We believe the current snowboard categories of freeride and freestyle are tired and need to be changed. The fact that a pipe board and a jib board, which have completely different flex patterns, are lumped into the freestyle category is one example of the ineffectiveness of the current system. The truth is, the modern snowboard design is all-mountain. Today’s boards are extremely versatile, performing in a variety of conditions. The different designs allow riders to focus on certain types of riding but don’t lock you into any one terrain or style. To that end, we are introducing a board mapping system based on the “Terrain Mapping” program created by our friends at Rome. Rome’s idea of identifying a board by how it performs in four terrain categories is much more intuitive. The Board Map below shows where each of our new boards is designed to perform across a spectrum of terrains. We hope this helps you make the best choice when selecting your Arbor.
